Van De Graeff
Stargazing was a long term creative project designed and executed by Aaron Van de Graeff from the years of 2004 to 2010. Over this course of time while balancing other life projects, a body of work called Star Gazing came to be. The trials of drawing with graphite on bristol board were hard won, and insanity did not prevail whilst working in such a large format with such small mechanical pencils! Completing this body of work was challenging but represented the culmination of drawing since childhood & What began in earnest as a first attempt in screen printing ended with the completion of a master suite of drawings.

The repetition of the same geometric form prevailed even in the earlier sketches and preliminary drawings that were completed and it necessary to explore how many different ways Aaron's artistry could bend or alter what the overall design looked like. Some of these patterns morph into others, and other shapes into other patterns, an eschereque design method to say the least. And although there were many things that were borrowed from that master in terms of clever geometry, this body of work can be called his own artistic creation.

Each final and completed drawing was presented at the Springbox Gallery for an Solo Exhibition and was received well by his artist peers, small reviews and patron collectors.
